As the semester has just begun, this is probably the best time to start thinking about how you can improve your language and learning skills. If you wait till the last minute (i.e. the week before your essay is due to be handed in), you’ll end up feeling very stressed and won’t achieve very much. Although we can offer you one-to-one support and a range of other individual support options, the best way for you to make progress is to be proactive and make the most of the ongoing support that is available during the semester. At this early stage, you might like to think about joining a
Peer Mentoring group, where you can benefit from help and advice from other students. You can choose from a range of subjects according to which faculty you are in. It might also be a good idea to check out our
FAQs (Frequently-Asked Questions) as some of your questions might be quite general.Post a comment if you need any more info on this or if you have any comments.Good Luck!

Welcome back to all continuing students and welcome to VU if you have just newly arrived.
This Blog is a new venture at the Student Learning Unit (SLU), and is being developed over the coming weeks, months and years. We hope to add information, resources and links that will help support you in your language and learning skills. To do this, we’d like your help. We’re looking for any useful study advice that you’d like to pass on to other students, and perhaps some websites you have found useful for your studies.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas – just post a response below.
btw – if you are looking for information on the SLU support programs and resources that we have available, take a look at the Study Support Options tab at the top of this Blog
